Snow!

I can not believe it snowed last night. As I watched the snow fall I kept thinking this will never stick and at first it did not. Well we still have snow the next morning. The Princesses are excited and we will probably bundle up soon and head out. I love playing in the snow so it should be fun. The girls have been good sports since all of our play dates have been canceled this week. The first was one of the sibling got sick at school, the second was the friend has pink and the third was siblings are vomiting!! Well at least we can play in the snow!! The Princesses are discussing throwing up right now and have decided they don't want to so we will stay home (as if I would take them lol!) Well we are off to put on snow clothes!

Date night

My husband and I have not been out without the Princesses since our 10th anniversary back in December. Well we finally went on a date. We were planning on going out for a big steak dinner but right before we left my DH asked if I really wanted steak. I really did not mind where we went so together we decided on Thai food. I knew we would get Pad Thai, my DH can not eat Thai food without ordering it! We also had a wonderful dish called Tom Kha Kai (chicken in coconut soup). After we ordered I realized that we ordered exactly what had been ordered for Princess A birthday dinner. DH had been out of town for work on Princess A's birthday so a girlfriend and her daughter (Princess A's best friend) meant at the same restaurant for dinner that night. It was really nice to be out with my husband not worry about feeding anyone but myself. When we were done we still had some time so we went to Cold Stone. We shared a Berry Berry Good Original Creation (cream ice cream, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries). Yummy!! We keep talking about going out to a movie but my DH always chickens out saying the babysitter might call (for the record we have never been called by the babysitter) and we would have to leave the movie. I have two movie tickets I have to use before June (or end of June) so I am hoping that will motivate my DH to take me to the movies. I have not been to the movies with just my husband since Princess A was a few month old (we lived near my Mom then) and we saw Terminator 3. I want a movie date!! Until then any date will due!!

Tea party

The Princesses and I had a little tea party today (with friends monkey and fairy beary) while our new carpet was being installed. We played tea party, princesses, dominos, danced, had lunch, another tea party (with real tea), and then I finally let them watch some TV. I had to keep them in one small area for over six hours while the carpet was installed! They are both sick so I could not take them anywhere. We will be making scones tomorrow and that will call for another tea party! This time I will let them use the tea set my Mom got them for Christmas (I keep it in one of the rooms that got new carpet today so we couldn't use it).
Here is the apple scone recipe we always use from allrecipes.com.

INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, chilled
1 apple - peeled, cored and shredded
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS
Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt into a large bowl. Cut in butter or margarine until crumbly. Add shredded apple and milk. Stir to form a soft dough.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 8 to 10 times. Pat into two 6-inch circles. Place on greased baking sheet. Brush tops with milk, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Score each into 6 pie-shaped wedges.
Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 15 minutes, or until browned and risen. Serve warm with butter.

Earache

Princess G has a very bad ear infection in one ear and almost one in the other. She has had a cold with a cough for a few days and did not sleep well Monday night. I kept asking her if she hurt anywhere but she said no. We were even at the Doctors on Tuesday for her sister's 5 year check-up. Well last night she hardly slept and said her ear hurt. After lucking out on an appointment early in the morning (I could have gone to convience care but you never know how the long the wait will be) Princess A missed the beginning of Pre-K. I almost didn't take her since when we were done at the Doctors class was almost half over, but I am glad I did since they had an Easter egg hunt. After dropping Princess A off we went and got Princess G her antibiotics and hopefully she will be better soon. The Doctor seemed surprised that she did not complain earlier considering how bad the infection was. Makes me wonder if she has had them before. I only know of one earache that was equally bad about a year ago. Princess A never had an earache which always surprised me since I had horrible earaches as an infant through 1st grade.

Bumpkins Bibs

When I was first pregnant my sister gave me some stuff my niece had out grown. Included in the pile was a Bumpkins bib. I just loved that bib and it was the only one I used until the fateful day my husband lost it. He really did not lose it, we knew where it was, in the garbage behind our favorite sushi restaurant! I was tempted to go and get it but saner heads prevailed and I did not go dumpster diving. No one carried them locally and I just ended up buying some other bibs. They were OK for a while but soon they were stained or even worse one started to mold. My husband saw how much I missed the Bumkin Bibs so he (with some encouragement from me) bought a three pack. A second baby later and they still look as good as new. I tell everyone to buy these bibs. They dry easily and scrunch up so small to stuff in your diaper bag or purse.
The picture on the left was the orginal (I miss that bib) and the one on the right is one of the newer ones (three years now)

Disney Replaced my DVD

Ever since we got Bugs Life the DVD just did not play right. The movie would freeze, get stuck or show pixels in the wrong spot. I lost the receipt so I never tried to return it. Few years later Princess A gets a Princess Stories DVD from the Easter Bunny. It works fine for 9 months and then the story with Jasmine is just skipped. I called Disney. I told them the problems, what DVD players I have and when I bought them. They sent me prepaid postage to send the DVDs in with all of the original packaging. I was told that if they could replicate the problem and it was not due to any damage I caused, such as scratches, they would send me new DVDs. Well we got the DVDs back, well I should say we got new ones and they work great. We can finally watch Bugs Life without unplanned pauses. Now if you damaged the DVD, broke it or scratched it you can get it replaced also, you just have to pay $6.95. Not a bad deal since a new one is much more or might not even be available. They are always "Going back into the vault."
I wish they had the movies available all of the time. We got rid of our VCR and now we can't watch Beauty and the Beast. We missed it when it came out on DVD. I would love to buy one but I am not paying almost $50 on ebay!!

New Carpet

I am so excited we are getting new carpet on Thursday! We called Empire and they came Saturday. A very nice woman measured the area and since we were getting the same carpet we bought for the downstairs last year she calculated the cost and we were done. They said we could have it installed today but we preferred Thursday, my DH will be able to work from home so I can take the kids out of the house. I can't wait. We have been wanting new carpet since we moved in over 2 years ago. The carpet looked fine whenever we came to see the house but within a week of us moving in there were stains everywhere. The previous owners had a dog and had the carpets cleaned the day before each of our visits. The stains are in the padding and always reappear after the carpets are cleaned, I know because we have cleaned them a few times.

Birthday Party

Well my Princess A is now 5 years old!! She had her mini-birthday party (she calls them that since she only has a few friends come) yesterday. It went really well. She had 5 friends (2 boys and 3 girls) and everyone played well together. The boys skipped some of the crafts, the bracelet and frame making, but did everything else. Of course they really started play together when it was time to go home. Everyone stayed an extra half hour, but as I planned for that it was fine. We do have two gifts to exchange, she wants the gifts in cinderella instead of snow white and ariel . We were suppose to head to Target for the exchanges but the girls are having such fun wth the new toys thay are only half ready. I have a feeling I will be going tomorrow during Princess A's pre-k class.

Rough week

I am sick, trying to plan a birthday party only a week and a half away (I have to hand out invites tomorrow), my dh flew back to his parents suddenly this morning for funeral and I can't remember what else I am suppose to be doing. I just want to crawl into bed but my two Princesses are full of energy and running around. I tried to bribe them with a movie in our room (so I can dose while they watch) but they are not interested at all! My hubby is gone until Tuesday!! Normally I don't mind when he is gone, I miss him but we are fine. Can anything else go wrong? Well, yes! Someone stole my sister's house key off of her key ring at work. She did not realize it was gone until she tried to open her door. She is freaked out since it is really hard to get keys off and on her key ring so it had to be someone who really wanted her key. She is changing her locks and borrowing a dog (she might kept it if it works out.) Last night she slept somewhere else and today she is changing her locks.
One good thing that has happen is the Princesses got new shoes yesterday and just love them. Princess G really needed new ones as her toes were rubbing the end of her shoes.

Princess A just made me a get well card. She told me that it is a lots of water for me to drink so I can get better. What a sweetie!!
