Fancy Nancy

Princess A told us that when her door opened she was ready to give us our fancy lessons.
I must say our instructor was very fancy indeed!

Since Daddy was at work Princess G and I were the only students.

First we shown two piles of books, fancy books on the left and plain books on the right. Later during free time we each got to read a book from the fancy pile.

Sunny and Pinky modeled the difference between fancy and plain.

Then it was time for a test. Princess G and I had to separate the dolls into two pile, fancy and plain.

We got all the doll correctly separated except the doll in blue in the plain pile, I wrongly put her in the fancy pile.

Princess A went over how to be fancy again. We then had free time, to read the fancy books. The lessons then ended just in time for a snack.

Princess A is thinking a having more fancy lessons next weekend so Daddy can attend too.

Riding the Horse at Fred Meyer

Whenever we go to Fred Meyer the girls want to ride this horse (and get a cookie from the bakery.)They always say 'Giddy-up' to get the horse started and 'Whoa' when it is time to stop. We always do that on carousels too!
If I have a quarter I will usually let them have a ride together (if they have been good.) I had two quarters so they each got a ride, well I should say Daddy had two quarters. I remember riding horses like this at a store my Grandmother would take me too!

Our Last Day at the Beach

It was freezing!! The girls still wanted to wear their bathing suits but since it was so cold they also wanted their sweatshirts on the whole time.
It was a little early (about 10am) but besides one man looking for sand dollars (he gave each of the girls one) we were the only ones on the beach. Princess A and I were making a giant mountain!

Princess G went off with Daddy to explore. Once her feet got wet she was ready to come back.

I actually have a sweater on under my fleece. I love just walking along the beach looking for shells even when it is cold.

Princess G was so excited when the hole Daddy dug began to fill-up with water. They both wanted to know where the water came from.

Princess A had to build her own mountain bigger and to make a pool too!

After the beach we came back and swam in the hotel pool for a little while before we really got cleaned up and checked-out. While Daddy was loading the car we played in the lobby.

On the way to the beach we saw a handmade sign advertising a Star Wars store. After lots of searching on the web (I finally found a Facebook page about it) we got the address. We stopped on the way home since Daddy and his girls adore everything Star Wars. The store was so cool, almost like a thrift store of Star Wars. The prices were not thrift store but the layout it. the gentlemen who runs the store was so nice and gave the girls each some candy. I am sure we will have to stop each time we go through Aberdeen.

It was a wonderful trip to the beach. Hopefully we will be able to go next year when Princess G turns 5!!!

Princess G's Birthday at the Beach

Cupcakes are perfect for breakfast when you turn four!

Princess G wanted cupcakes with sprinkles so that is what I made her.

After such a healthy breakfast it was time to open presents.

Princess A gave her a Jessie and Bullseye figurines we picked up in Disneyland (Woody is from a Happy Meal when the movie first came out, we have a Buzz too.)

We gave her a Sleeping Beauty doll also from Disneyland. The doll is reversible, one side she is Briar Rose and the other Aurora. When we were in Disneyland she kept asking if we would put the doll on her list for Christmas.

We also gave her an Aurora and Prince Phillip doll set.

I just love the way she pronounces 'Prince Philip'!

We didn't want Princess A to be left out so we gave her a ballerina Barbie, she loves it.

We finally made it to the beach and even though this day was much sunnier the wind made it feel so much colder.

The girls are wearing matching dress which you can't see because it was to cold to take off their two sets of fleece jackets. Despite the cold the girls couldn't get enough of the water.

Princess G kept finding seashells to decorate the sand castle later.

We found some pools left behind by the out-going tide and they were a little warm. The warmth was nice as even Princess A said the water was getting to cold. We warmed up in the little pools and then headed back to Daddy.

While we were off freezing our toes Daddy finally got the kite up.

It was too cold to play in the water too long so we started playing in the sand.

I actually have my bathing suit on under all those clothes. I don't know what I was thinking as it really was so cold. A few brave souls, mostly teens, were swimming but only for a short period of time.

Daddy had found a homemade ice cream store which we decided to try after leaving the beach and getting cleaned up.

The each picked out cotton candy ice cream, I must say it really did taste like cotton candy. My darling husband and I shared a waffle cone with sweet cream and strawberry ice cream, yummy!!

Everyone got dressed up and we went out to dinner. The dinner was very disappointing. We went to the same restaurant two years ago for her birthday and that time it was great. This time the food was O.K., the veggies bland, service slow, the whole thing was sad. I know we will never go back!

The girls had fun and when we got back they were full of giggles!

Of course no stay at a hotel is complete without a visit to the hotel pool. I remembered to bring their hippo floaties. We spent almost an hour in the pool and it was a perfect ending to a perfect and very full day.

Day One of Our Beach Trip

We all took a trip to the shore to celebrate Princess G's birthday. I made a batch of rice crispy treats to take with us and as soon as we got to the hotel she started nibbling on one.

The first day was suppose to be the coldest day but since there was no wind it was not to bad. Princess A couldn't wait to go in the water but we convinced her to just get her feet wet at first.

Princess G was just so excited to get to the beach. The last time we were at the beach was for her second birthday, we missed last year when the in-laws came to visit.

Her last day of being three years old!!

She picked up some shells and placed them on some driftwood so it would be extra pretty.

I don't know why we bothered to try and keep her out of the water, her swim cover-up became soaked and covered in sand. She had so much fun!!

Next it was time to build some sand castles.

Daddy helped Princess G make a tower. Daddy continued to make towers while Princess G started making sea horses and starfishes.

Together they make quite the village. After a few hours on the beach under mostly cloudy skies we were ready to get cleaned up. The girls were a little tuckered out so Daddy picked up takeout and we ate in our hotel room. It was a wonderful first day.

Heatwave Update!

Well the temperature hit 107 at our house. It was horrible. The girls and I just stayed home, they played in a tub of cool water many times and had lots of slushies. I did not even try and get them to bed until after 10 pm. My bedroom was in the 90s at least. It was just us girls since my darling husband was away on a business trip. I was so glad he was gone for his sake. He thinks 80 is hot so it was nice for him to miss the heat. The next day was 100 which normally is so hot but in comparison it did not feel so bad. I was also waking up at 5 am to open the window downstairs to air the house out. I just don't feel comfortable having the windows open downstairs at night especially when my husband is away. We survived!! After a few days I was going a little stir crazy at home so after dinner one night we went to Target to enjoy the air conditioning and let the girls play in the toy department. They were ready to leave before I was. It was so nice and cool!! I hope we never go through that again. Since it was a record breaking high temperature (it beat the record by 3 degrees) I will hope it never happens again!!

Heatwave!!!

We are currently having a heatwave. Our whole area has an excessive heat advisory for the next couple of days. I am not sure what the high temp today was but at one point it was 99 degrees. We have do not have an air conditioner so lets just say the house too hot!! No relief in this hot weather is expected for the next couple of days. It might get down to 89 this weekend! I am just melting! It is so hot I don't really want to be on the computer, it just lets off so much heat. I probably won't be blogging much until it cools down some. It is almost 10 pm and my room is about 89 degrees (outside is 82).

Birthday Party Bash for Wii Review

Princess A just adores Birthday Party Bash. She wants to play it everyday and would if I let her play the Wii everyday. Up to 12 people can play Birthday Party Bash at a time. Princess A likes setting up parties with 5 or 6 people each time even if she is the only one playing. There are lots of themes to pick for your Birthday Party Bash but the girls pick Princess every time! Once you pick the theme it is time to play the party games to earn your party. The number of people playing a particular game is dependent on how many Wii remotes you have. If you have less than four, we have two, then in our case two of the players in a game are controlled by the Wii remote and the other two are controlled by the game. After the game is played you have earned more of your party, for example decorations, cake and such. The next game is played with the next group of people. So in our house if Princess A picks 4 players then the first game is player 1 and 2 (the other two characters in the game are controlled by the game). The next game is players 3 and 4. The third game is players 1 and 2 again and so on. Princess A loves playing Birthday Party Bash and Princess G likes to watch. Princess A loves playing Birthday Party Bash by herself or with me. After playing the games your party is earned and you get to sing "Happy Birthday." Each time you play through a party the order of the games is changed and there are so many mini games every game is not played during each party. Princess A likes to just play the mini games separately sometime to practice so she can beat me the next time we play. The Birthday Party Bash also came with postcard invitations for a birthday party and a Duncan Hines coupon, buy one get one free. My girls love throwing pretend parties (Hippo and Pinkie have a birthday a few times a week) and so this was perfect for them. Princess A and I highly recommend Birthday Party Bash and I know she will be playing for a long time.
