This last week has been freezing. One morning when I dropped the girls off at school this week it was 12 degrees.
The girls so wanted to play outside so I said we could ride/walk to the mailbox. It took less than five minutes but our toes already started to freeze. By Friday I was excited that it was slightly above freezing. Still cold but not as cold! Today we had a light snow but no real accumulation. 
Princess G's Pre-K had a field trip to the library today. She kept going back and forth about whether she wanted to go or not. I had some books due today so we went to turn them in. She did not want to join her class so we picked out some books and movies and left. As soon as we got outside she wanted to join her class so we did. They listened to some stories and the proper behavior for the library. Then it was time for the tour. Princess G did not want to go on the tour she said she remembered it when Princess A and her class did the tour two years ago. I was impressed she remembers that since she was only two years old. I had her say goodbye to her teachers and we left. 
We decorated our tree last night and as soon as we were done Princess A broke out in song!

As promised our visit to the Pacific Northwest Ballet performance of the Nutcracker Ballet. This is our third year attending the ballet and it becomes more magical every year. The girls have been counting down the days for over a month!
Besides the mini stage in the lobby for pictures there is also a giant Christmas tree. Princess G wanted to take a picture with her big sister. My favorite picture from last year was the two of them hugging.

We always take pictures in front of all of the characters, we usually arrive an hour before the ballet starts just for picture taking and the crafts.
The Nutcracker! Last year Daddy bought them Clara dolls from the gift shop and at the time Princess A asked if they could get a Nutcracker next year.
The girls always have so many questions about the Mouse King: Why is he so mean? Why did that mouse bite Princess Pirlipat? How did Clara know the shoe would stop him?

We truly love going to the Nutcracker and it has become our traditional start of our Christmas season. We always attend the opening weekend right after Thanksgiving. My darling husband actually ordered the tickets back in July. After this picture we did the crafts. There was one to make a crown/headband in the front lobby and another to make a Christmas tree out of pipe cleaners and a large Popsicle stick near the room with extra cushion seats for children.
After we found our seats I took the girls for a little walk and when we returned Daddy had a surprise waiting for them. (A week earlier Daddy told them he had a surprise for them but when Princess A pressed him for clues he pretended he couldn't remember the surprise.)
The girls had been asking for these dolls when we were at Target to buy their fancy shoes. Daddy surprised us all when they found them on the seats since he did not even tell me about the dolls.
After a magical first half it was time for intermission. We spent the whole time in line for refreshments. We normally don't get refreshments at the ballet but Auntie Cathy (Daddy's cousin) wanted to treat the girls. It was very expensive, a very long line and the fun cookies were all gone by the time we got to the front. I doubt we will do that again.
Princess A just loves her new Princess Ballerina and has been playing and sleeping with her ever since the ballet last weekend.
The ballet was so enchanting and we were sad to see it come to and end. Daddy had one more surprise (the one I knew about) a Nutcracker for each of them!!
Princess A and Princess G have been re-enacting the ballet over and over all week. They both love their Nutcracker so much but I did have to stop them from sleeping with them. The Princess Ballerina dolls are much softer to sleep with. Princess G wants to go back for Christmas Eve, she told me on the way to school and then asked "Isn't that a good idea, mommy?"
A school friend of Princess A, who has the same name, had a very fun birthday party. First they played bingo a few times. Then the real fun started, decorating cupcakes. Each little girls was able to decorate two cupcakes. They had frosting (in decorating bags), sprinkles, marshmallows, colored sugar and mini chips to decorate with. After that they sung karaoke until it was time to go home. Again most of the songs were Hannah Montana which Princess A (or me) don't know at all. We were the only ones who did not know the songs as all the moms were singing along and some of the dads.
quiche whenever we went to Costco. They were not for parties they were yummy snacks for us to enjoy. I don't remember what brand they were but they might be Nancy's. I was sent a coupon to try one of Nancy's appetizers, I decided to try the Petite Quiche. In the package was two varieties, Lorraine Quiche (Swiss Cheese and Real Bacon) and Florentine Quiche (Swiss Cheese and Spinach). They are both so yummy and the girls liked both of them too. It can sometimes be hard to find something they both like espeically if there is chesse involved. We devoured them quickly and luckly they were easy to make. As soon as I mentioned the idea of building a house for fairies the girls were so excited. Princess A was sure that if they built a house a fairy would move in and that she would be able to catch it. First they collected all the big leaves and sticks they could find in the yard. They then built this house and added some stones for furniture.
They made the fairy house late in the day and the next day as were leaving to go out for lunch (yummy Pho) they wanted to see if a fairy had moved in. They did not see any signs that a fairy had moved in but since it was raining we decided if one had moved the rain probably washed away the evidence of the fairy's visit.
After lunch the rain was a little lighter so we checked again. Princess A said that some of the stones had been moved a tiny bit and maybe the fairy had moved in and was decorating it the way she wanted. The girls can't wait to make more fairy houses in the spring when they will have more materials to work with.
