UP!

Daddy took all three of his girls to see the movie UP! Daddy has been playing the trailer over and over for the girls. I think he was almost more excited to go then the girls.The movie was great but Princess G did get a little scared near the end of the movie. At one point some dogs were about to attack and she got very scared. She grabbed my hand and put it over her eyes. I started to remove my hand when the bad guy started shooting a shotgun. She grabbed my hand and put it back over her eyes. She did say that she can't wait to see it again. I would recommend this movie but if your child is scared of dogs you might want to skip it. I know we will be buying a copy when it comes out on DVD.

Heatwave

As I said in my last post we had a heatwave a few days ago. The temperature was in the 90s. The previous record high was 87 degrees for that day. The girls were disappointed we weren't going to take great-grandma Jean to the zoo but the first run through the sprinklers this year helped. (The new dresses and ice cream cones from McDonald's helped too.)
As soon as I said they could run through the sprinkler they were taking off their clothes and putting on bathing suits.

Look at that happy grin. They were just so excited! They have been waiting for a warm enough day for weeks. I did not think it would come until July or at least the end of June.

I really should of put on my own suit! Next time!!!

Of course I was also scrubbing the kiddie pool so they could go in it. We leave it on the side of the house over winter and it does get a little dirty. Once they were done I left the water in the pool since the next day was suppose to be almost as hot. It wasn't at all. The next day did not even reach 80 degrees. Needless to say it might be a while before we play in the sprinkler or kiddie pool again.

Visit with My Grandma Jean

I have not seen my Grandma since Princess G was a few months old. They stopped by our old house right before we moved. My Grandparents were driving through the area at the time and stopped for a short visit.
It was really nice to have her come and visit for a few days. My Grandma Jean is the only grandparent I have now and the girls' only great-grandparent.

The girls had so much fun showing her all their treasures and playing with her. They were really good to about not going in the guest/playroom without knocking first. We planned on going to the zoo but it we had a heatwave and the temperature was in the mid nineties.

Instead we went to a park, had lunch, she bought the girls each a dress (which they are wearing) and just spent time together. My uncle told me she will be in the area again in August so she will be visiting us again soon. My Grandfather passed away a little over a month ago and we are all trying to help her. They were married over 62 years and it is hard for her to be without him.

Kindergarten Round-Up Program

Princess A's class had their first and only music program. The kids were to wear jeans and a white t-shirt. This might be the first time Princess A has worn jeans this year. Her teacher told me not to go and buy jeans just for the programs (she know Princess A rarely wears pants and never jeans) but I had this pair as a hand-me-down from my neice. Princess A said they were really nice to wear and wants to wear jeans sometimes (we will see if that actually happens). Here is Princess A lining up for the Kindergarten Round-Up.
I have no I idea why, but they came in, lined up on the stage, took pictures, left, then came back again and finally sang.They sang Old Chisholm Trail, When I First Came to this Land, Rocky Mountain, A Cowboy Needs a Horse, I Love My Little Rooster, and All Around the Barnyard.

Daddy was able to go into work late so he could attend. They had the program about 15 minutes after school started on Tuesday.

The girls wanted a picture with Princess A's teacher. They both love her so much. I can't believe that there are only seven more days of school. Princess A can't wait for summer but is also sad she with not see her teacher everyday.

First Major League Baseball Game

Daddy has been waiting so long to take the girls to their first baseball game. He bought the tickets months ago and could hardly wait to finally go.

We saw the Giants versus the Mariners, our old home team against our new home team.

We picked up two foot longs from Subway to eat at the game, the girls said they were starving soon after we left the house. We finished them before the game even started.
The girls were so excited they kept telling everyone that it was their first game. Someone told use to go to guest relations for a treat for the girls. They each got a certificate commemorating their first visit and a team flag. The flag was made of felt and came with crayons for the girls to color it themselves. It kept them busy for a while but later I pulled out our Nintendo DSes so Daddy could at least see the 5th inning. We all had so much fun and think we might make it a yearly tradition. Daddy is even looking into getting tickets for the Seattle Storm (women's basketball team). He wants the girls to see that girls can do anything too!
As promised Daddy got them each a cotton candy on the way out.

Taking a Blog Break

I am taking a week off from blogging and the Internet. Once back I will have to share pictures of the girls first major league baseball game. It was so much fun!!

Silly Games

The girls were asking me what kinds of games I played in my Grandmother's pool. We then recreated it here. One person puts their leg up and the rest crawl through.

Each time everyone passes through the opening gets smaller until someone touches the leg and then they are it. We used to play this all the time in the summer. (Much easier in a pool!)

Then the girls wanted to play 'roller coaster.'

They lay on my lower legs while I try and shake them off.

Their favorite is when I put my legs up really high.

Daisy Trip to Fire Station

Princess A was so excited to visit the local fire station. It was the first time either of the girls had been to a fire station. Last year Princess A's Pre-K class went on a day we were out of town.

Of course Princess G went and Daddy too.

Princess G got her turn in the driver's seat.

The firefighters who gave the tour actually were from a different station. A number of calls had come in that morning and the firefighters of that station were out on a call. The other station was nice enough to come over so the Daisy troop did not have to miss their tour.

Mamapedia

Mamapedia is a great resource for moms. It is a search engine for questions moms have. I searched for information about 'growing pains.' Both of the girls have growing pains on occasion and lately Princess G has been having them quite often. I wanted to see if other moms had some suggestions. One suggestion was a banana a day for the extra potassium. I will have to try that. Mamapedia is real moms asking question and real moms answering with what worked for them. It is also fun to just look through the questions and see how they have been answered. A great resource for those mom questions we all have.

Watching Baby Worms

The girls just love when I find worms in the garden. As soon as I find them they like to put them in the wheelbarrow. They like to add grass, some dirt and rocks so the worms have a home. Princess G had so much fun just watching her 'baby wormy' (the first one I found was very short, hence a baby). I later found a longer one that the girls said must be the mommy. Princess G felt she could ride her bike once we found the mommy worm since it would watch the baby now. Later we put the worm family back in the garden. Worms really are their favorite part of gardening, though they still will not touch them.

Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches Review

Besides Fat Free Milk and Low Fat yogurt (it is so hard to find full fat yogurt) I don't do low fat food. I prefer the real stuff. Tuesday I tried the Skinny Cow Mint Ice Cream Sandwich and it was so yummy. I could not tell that it was low fat at all. The ice cream was creamy and the chocolate was so tasty. I really could not taste the difference between the Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches and the ones we usually buy. I also tried the Cookies 'N Cream version. It was wonderful but I have say the Mint is my favorite, Of course that might be do to the fact that Mint Chip Ice Cream is one of my favorite flavors!! I would recommend the Skinny Cow Ice Cream treats to anyone, if you are watching what you eat or not. Next I will have to try some of their other ice cream treats, Cones, Dippers and Fudge Bars.

Wordless Wednesday: My Flower Girl Nightgown

Princess A is wearing her favorite nightgown and matching robe. The same nightgown and robe I wore as a flowergirl in my Aunt's wedding when I was about her age.

Princess A, Roller Skating for the First Time

Princess A went roller skating for the first time with her Daisy troop.

She had so much fun!!

First we skated together (I was the only Mom to skate the whole time) but after a little while she wanted to skate by herself. She slowly made her way around. She had fun until a little boy she did not know tried to say "Hello." She skated with me the rest of the time, even during the kid race. At the end of the race all of the kids won a lime green slushies.

Princess a had so much fun and can't wait to go back.

Make it Monday: Books

Princess A loves making books. I usually take two or three sheet of paper, fold in half and staple twice on the fold (near the top and bottom). Princess G loves making books too! Princess A draws all of the pictures in her book and sometimes dictates the story to someone to write down. Other times she just remembers the story and loves to read them over and over. The girls make so many books they each have a library of the books they have written. I sometimes checkout some of their books but I have to make sure I return them in time or I get in trouble (I can't check out any new books from them.)
